Summer Intensive Spotlights

Ballet Brazos dancers spend years studying ballet and honing their talent. Many continue their training during the summers with 3-6 week intensives to increase strength, technique, and performance skills. These dancers audition for and are accepted to summer ballet intensives at prestigious ballet schools and companies with renowned faculty and instruction.

NATALIA COMPTON

Ballet Brazos dancer Natalia Compton auditioned for and was accepted into summer intensives with the following programs

  • BalletMet

  • Texas Ballet Theater

  • Kansas City Ballet 

  • Oklahoma City Ballet 

  • Joffrey Ballet

  • DeCruz Ballet

She plans to attend DeCruz Ballet and Oklahoma City Ballet, as well as Pure Energy's Summer Ballet Intensive. 

Natalia danced as one of the Nutcracker Prince's brave Soldiers in the 2022 Nutcracker.

CALLIE GRACE HOWE

Ballet Brazos Soloist Callie Grace Howe auditioned for and was accepted to summer intensives with the following programs:

  • The Rock School of Dance

  • Point Park University International Dance

  • Hubbard Street Dance

  • Nashville Ballet

  • Complexions Contemporary Ballet

Callie Grace has decided to attend the Hubbard Street Dance and Point Park University intensives this summer.

Callie Grace danced as the Lead Chinese and as a Snowflake in the 2022 Nutcracker.

PIPER HOWE

Ballet Brazos dancer Piper Howe auditioned for and was accepted into the Summer Intensive Program with the Houston Ballet.

She will attend the Houston Ballet program this summer.

Piper danced as one of the fierce Battle Mice in the in the 2022 Nutcracker.

ELLIE JOUETT

Ballet Brazos Soloist Ellie Jouett auditioned for and was accepted to summer intensives with the following programs:

  • Ballet Austin

  • Texas Ballet Theater

Ellie has decided to attend the Ballet Austin intensive this summer.

Ellie danced as the Soldier Doll (matinee), Snowflake, and Rosebud in the 2022 Nutcracker. She was also the understudy for Lead Spanish.

CJ ZAPALAC

Ballet Brazos Soloist CJ Zapalac auditioned for and was accepted into the following Summer Intensive programs:

  • Atlanta Ballet

  • BalletMet

  • Boston Ballet

  • Cincinnati Ballet

  • Colorado Ballet

  • Kansas City Ballet

  • Louisville Ballet

  • Milwaukee Ballet

  • Nashville Ballet

  • Oklahoma City Ballet

  • Philadelphia Ballet

  • Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre

  • Sacramento Ballet

  • Sarasota Ballet

  • Texas Ballet Theater

  • Tulsa Ballet

CJ was also accepted into the BalletMet Partnering Week and Company Rep Week, as well as the Colorado Ballet Choreography Week.

He was invited to participate in the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre Company Experience, and was also offered a spot for year-round training at both Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and Sarasota Ballet. 

This summer, CJ has committed to train at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. He will attend their Company Experience followed by their 5 week Summer Intensive program.

CJ danced as the Nutcracker Doll, Waltz Cavalier, and Lead Spanish in the 2022 Nutcracker.

KATHERINE ROSS

Ballet Brazos dancer Katherine Ross auditioned for and was accepted into the Summer Intensive Program with the Houston Ballet.

She's excited to attend the Houston Ballet program for her 2nd summer.

Katherine danced as one of the fierce Battle Mice in the 2022 Nutcracker.

LEXI SINK

Ballet Brazos Soloist Lexi Sink auditioned for and was accepted to the following summer intensives:

  • School of American Ballet

  • Pacific Northwest Ballet

  • Houston Ballet

She has decided to attend the School of American Ballet in New York for her 2nd year. 

Lexi danced as the Snow Queen (evening), Lead Arabian, Flower, and Snowflake demi-soloist in the 2022 Nutcracker.

RHYSE HARVEY

Ballet Brazos dancer Rhyse Harvey auditioned for and was accepted to the summer intensive program with Oklahoma City Ballet.

Rhyse has decided to attend the 3-week summer intensive program with the Oklahoma City Ballet this summer.

Rhyse danced as a beautiful Snowflake and Rosebud in the 2022 Nutcracker.

Ballet Brazos dancer Anna Belle Pollard auditioned for and was accepted to the following Summer Intensive programs:

Anna Belle plans to attend summer intensives at both Ballet Austin and Oklahoma City Ballet.

Anna Belle danced as one of the lovely Party Teens and the Chinese Dragon in the 2022 Nutcracker.

CAROLINE BURROUGH

Ballet Brazos dancer Caroline Burrough auditioned for and was accepted into the Summer Intensive Program with the Houston Ballet.

She's thrilled to attend the Houston Ballet program this summer.

Caroline danced as one of the adorable Polichinelles in the 2022 Nutcracker.

KAYLEE MICHAELSON

Ballet Brazos Soloist Kaylee Michaelson auditioned for and was accepted to Summer Intensive Programs with:

  • Ballet Austin

  • Oklahoma City Ballet

  • Houston Ballet

Kaylee will be attending the 5 week Senior Intensive with the Houston Ballet again this summer.

Kaylee danced as Lead Marzipan, Flower Fairy and Snowflake in the 2022 Nutcracker.

KARA MICHAELSON

Ballet Brazos Soloist Kara Michaelson auditioned for and was accepted to Summer Intensive Programs with:

  • Ballet Austin

  • Oklahoma City Ballet

  • Houston Ballet

Kara will be attending the 5 week Senior Intensive with the Houston Ballet this summer.

Kara danced as our Clara (evening), Columbine Doll (matinee) and Marzipan (matinee) in the 2022 Nutcracker.

ZOE JONES

Ballet Brazos Soloist Zoe Jones auditioned for and was accepted to Oklahoma City Ballet’s Senior Summer Intensive.

In addition to her acceptance, Zoe was awarded a tuition scholarship by OKC Ballet. She is excited to attend the intensive this summer.

Zoe danced as our Dew Drop Fairy (matinee) and was also a Snowflake, Marzipan, and Flower Fairy in the 2022 Nutcracker.

BRILEY BOE

Ballet Brazos dancer Briley Boe auditioned for and was accepted to Ballet Austin’s Senior Summer Intensive.

She looks forward to attending one of the three week sessions this summer.

Briley danced as one of our exuberant Polichinelles in the 2022 Nutcracker.
